Default 1984 Mustang Convertible LX, looking to buy, what should I look out for?

Hello!

I'm looking at buying a 1984 Mustang, and am wondering... what issues should I be looking for? I already know about the 3 recalls, and the recall on the aftermarket fuel pump... so I'm looking for those. Obvious things like rust, old/asphalt cutter tires, crappy dew wipes, dings in the windshield, etc.

It looks like I'll need a new convertible top... so suggestions on where to get a new one, and what linkages I should look for are helpful.

So, what lovely issues keep popping up with 80's Mustangs? Will I need to replace the ball joints minutes after buying it? Or will the belts magically start falling apart? Does it leak oil like a sieve?

Thanks a ton!
Janell

Bought it.

Now... for the restore.

Quick question... what is this mystery lever? [picture] I really can't figure out what it does, and I don't have a manual to figure it out.
