Default aod trans shifter button has no tension any sugestions?

The car is a 90 5.0 with a aod trans got in this morning to drive it and it would not shift out of park the button on the shifter is real loose and there is no tension on it. The thing worked fine the last time i drove it any ideas what my problem is or how to fix this , has anyone had the same problem before ?

Sounds like the spring (under the button) is broken !

has happened to me once actually... but it got stuck in D when i was cruisin around

went home, hit it with a hammer on the bottom and the handle came off

fixed the spring inside where it came loose, put it back on and has never messed up again

It's the spring, or another component inside. If something is broken, you can contact Late Model Resto for parts.
