Rebuilding the T5 does not mean you get a new(different) set of gear ratios in the
tranny. In fact, changing the gear ratios in the
tranny is not as easy as you might be thinking. It cost you big bucks as well.
As I specialize in TKO, T45 and T56
tranny's, the T5 is a little different. I can tell you that changing the ratios in a TKO requires a new input shaft, 1st gear, reverse gear, reverse idler and a new main shaft. The T5 isn't much different. When you change the 1st gear itself, say from the factory 3.37:1 to the aftermarket 2.97:1, the multiplication factor kicks in and changes the ratios throughout the rest of the gears even though you didn't actually change 2nd, or 3rd.
