Default 1997 Mountaineer Engine?

I might have a chance to buy a 302 from a 1997 Mercury Moutaineer for $250....

Will this engine go into my 1994 Mustang just fine?

It should have the GT40P heads and the Explorer intake right??

I'm going to check it out in a couple of hours and see if it runs, so I just want to make sure it will be a "bolt n' go".

Who are you and what have you done with Feen? He knows a 302 will go right in because he already has a 302. No reason why it wouldn't go in.

The Mercury is the same as the Explorer so it should have the P stuff.

LoL, yes I have a 302 already but it also has 190K miles. I don't have the money for a rebuild at the moment, and the Mountaineer engine has 100K miles on it AND the GT40 parts.
I can also sell the intake for $200-$250... So I'll pretty much be getting the GT40 heads and a lesser mile engine for free!!!!

Alright fella's. I just bought the whole Mountaineer for $250!!

From what I could tell by looking at the plugs is that it has the GT40P heads and of course the Exploder intake. I am going to sell the intake, transmission, and rear end then junk the rest of the car.

So I might actually be MAKING money for getting GT40P heads and another 302! Can't beat that huh?

Rookie question: Does feen need to use the computer from the merc or can he use the mustang one?

Maybe I could do this till I get money to build me my dream motor.....

I know my computer would work fine. The only thing I was unsure about is the EGR system in the Mountaineer/Explorer. But I was just making SURE I was getting what I thought I was getting.

You think the GT40P heads will be sufficient enough for a 331???

They will work awhile but as you know a better set of heads will yield more power....

The Mustang computer is what he needs. The Mercury computer isn't exactly the best for a performance vehicle.

P heads would make for a torquey stroker but would limit it's power.
