Most alignment shops check that. But if the previous owner had it aligned by a another shop, and they failed to check the steering wheels location, then your shop probably didn't think about since the car was in specs. What they have to do is take some toe out of one side, and add some to the other while the steering wheel is centered.
If the wheel has some play in it, then it may seem like its not center, but the problem could be the steering rag joint just worn out some. Common problem with older vehicles. Worst case scenario, would be a worn steering rack.
