well im getting really bas gas mileage. im at a half tank and i have gone only 93 miles. its a 15 gallon tank... anybody else get this poor of gas mileage?
are you running 4.10 gears and punchin it @ everystop your at if so that might be your problem lol.... Check to see if you have a gas leak from the nossle that goes into your gas tank(my buddy had that problem and would loose alot of gas). Also have you tried changing spark plugs, fuel filter air cleaner, distributor cap rotor etc..the usual

You use up most of your gas when accelerating from a dead stop. How do you drive it? Also need to know the state of the car (stock or modified), especially the fuel system.
Oh yeah, we might need to know what car we're talking about.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

Try replacing the temperture switch. It is located on the coolant tube that the heater core lines go to. If this sensor is bad your car will run open loop. My city gas mileage doubled when I replaced this sensor (8 mpg to 17 mpg).
Mustangs arent known for great gas mileage. I get around 180 miles to a tank in town and 300+ on the freeway but i am heavily modified. Automatics take a bit more gas than 5-speeds. Not much im sure. Sounds like you have a problem somewhere
4.10's Don't kill gas mileage. I get 20+ (closer to 24-25) On the Freeway with 4'10. About 85miles on a 1/4 tank is my normal. First thing it may need a tune up. Diagnostic codes may help point you in the right direction.

no disrespect but 25mpg with a modded motor with 4.10's, I think you need to know how to calculate gas mileage, or enter that thing into the guiness book of world records.

No disrespect, but why choose me? MUSTANGPAT said he was heavily modded, and got 300 miles on the Highway. You didnt question him. 85 x 4= 340, so i get 40 more miles a tank the him. Not like thats a ton.
You read my Sig and Made an assumption. Therefor youre dead wrong. That motor is on the stand. The motor in the car came with it when I bought it. It has a CAI, U/D drive pulleys, Cobra intake, 24lb injectors, 1 3/4 shorty's. 3 inch exhaust, F-303 cam, 75mm Pro-M Mass Air, 75mm Throttle body, MSD. Minus a set of heads, its still modded. I can take and 85 mile trip and burn a 1/4 tank of gas. If i drive there and just drive right back its exactly a half a tank on the gauge. I guess im just making things up just to make a post. And BTW, the Gauge is correct. I stay on top of everything on my ride.
But I can link you to a Edlebrock headed, TFS R intake, custom cam,3.73's Combo that makes 25mpg or so since you dont believe me.. Its possible if you know what you are doing.

Heres a copy and paste of the link I was gonna post. But you may not be a member.
I initially contacted Jay about a cam last fall for a 306 I was going to build to replace the 210K mile 302 in my red LX. I already had most of the new parts for it but Jay pointed out that the 5.4" rods I'd gotten for the engine wouldn't help torque or mileage as much as I thought, and would in fact cost me about 15RWHP at the top end. As I already them and accompanying pistons I decided to press on. That first day he spent 45 minutes of his time with me, and he definitely got me straight on a few things. I later sent him the spec sheet and he did the cam and had it to me in about a week or thereabouts. When I began assemblying the engine I had a senior moment and got confused about something in the instructions for checking the cam C/L so I called him and left a message, within 45 minutes he returned my call and broke it down for me. Mind you this was on a Saturday afternoon, I wasn't expecting a call back until sometime Monday at the earliest so for him to call me right back, on a weekend no less was extremely gratifying.
I won't get into having to yank the engine because of bearing issues, but anyway it's now March and I've had it running for about three weeks. I am attending a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Class up in Montgomery now so I've had a chance to get it out on the road. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't too excited about driving 3 hours from home with an engine I just put in the weekend before I left for school. I drove it up two weeks ago and just came home last night for the weekend. As I was having computer issues I couldn't tune the car before I went up there so it still had the old tune from using the TFS1 cam. Even with that tune loaded I still managed 22MPG on mostly secondary roads, and one 80 mile segment of interstate where I kept it at 85 or so. Last weekend I got my computer working so I did a couple datalogs and got a different tune loaded, still not optimum but fairly close. Staying on secondary roads averaging 70-75 I got 24 MPG, this is with the car in my sig. Jay figures it should make close to, I think he said 325RWHP. Keep in mind this is with a cam that I told Jay I'd like to keep it mild and still make good horsepower. I have it set to idle at 800, where it sounds like a stocker, I can start in second without going over 1000 RPM. Tonight I was pulling onto my street and was on the phone so I didn't downshift. Yet it didn't jerk or anything, rolling down the street in 4th gear at about 15 MPH, smooth as could be. I couldn't be in thrid with the TFS1 it would jerk, unless the RPM's were up. The way it pulls on the interstate reminds me of my GT that had a 351W in it. The torque is awesome and it's anywhere on the tach.
I won't be able to get it on a dyno until after my school is done then I can make sure the tune is right and see how it does.
I'm also contemplating hitting the Montgomery dragstrip the Friday night before I graduate as it is a 1/4 mile track and I've never been on one before, we've only got the 1/8 mile around here. When I get on the dyno/track I'll be sure to post up results here.

89coupe, your right I should have not singled you out that was a jerk move on my part, I guess I just base my oppinions on my real world findings, I should open up my dome to more possibilities........sorry about that
I'm getting about 17-18 depending on how I drive it. Usually about 270-280 out of a tank when im not on it, and thats with some vacuum leaks and exhaust leak
