i have my 89 engine on a engine stand but have 91 or 92 5.0 in my car do you think i should stay with the engine i have or go back to my 89 i know they stoped the forged piston in 91-92 if i am wrong tell me because this motor with the cam and heads only gives me .5 in the 1/4 mile and the car is coming completely apart soon and i thinking about useing the orignal lowerend

I read an article in MM&FF that said they quit using forged pistons in 1993. Not sure if that is 100% but it is what that article said but if we are tearing the entire engine down are you still gonna use the original pistons other than that i think the blocks should be identical

The cam was different in 89 giving it a bit more horsepower. As for the pistons all were forged until 93.

89-92 bottom ends are identical.....

93 first year for the hyper pistons.....

One is 1989 and the other is 1991 or 1992? Use either, both have forged pistons, forged rods, and a decent cast crank.
