Hello,I just got my 1985 mustang 5.0 ho convertible and iv been look at new exhaust for it.I like the flowmaster 44 series at american muscle but it says it fits the 1987-1993 mustang.Would this exhaust fit mine aswell? And in your own opions whats the best exhaust for my car?Please help.

i have an 85 GT, anything that will fit the 86 and newer will fit the 85 only if you replace the cross member under the transmission with one from an 86 and newer. otherwise the true dual exhaust wont clear it. its an easy swap, you can buy them new after market there are a few out there, mustangs unlimited has one for like $44 i pulled mine out of a junk yard for $15

Im only 16 so most of this stuff is new to me.Only things iv done is restore a 1968 912 porsche with my gramps

its not too difficult easy enough to do in the driveway if you can get the car a fair distance off the ground.i drove up on the curb infront of my house then jacked the other two wheels up set up some jack stands and then supported the trans with the jack while i had the cross member out.

i would say that if you dont have access to welding equipment then try to find a cross member in either a junk yard or ebay, as the ford racing ones and other after market require you to weld them together once you get everything lined up right.

Yes i have a welder and my uncle owns his own garage so i have use of lifts and pro help.

in that case get the new one from ford racing for like $44 it seems to be made out of a little heavier gauge steel than the factory ford 87-93 ones

i have a holley 4160 street avenger 600 cfm, never had any problems with it on either the 302 or the 357 that its on now.

what do u think the top speed on my car is?i was thinking about 130ish

i would say thats a safe bet, give or take a little depending on what gears it has. if it has the stock 2.73 then more likely in the 140+ range, i know i topped out at 143 but i think that was more because of my clutch slipping

152 is fast enough for me, from 140 on my steering gets pretty sketchy

my friend had a 06 gto and we did 170 on i 95 that was sacry fast good thing no one was on the road
