Default How much do you think?

Well i am wondering if anyone can give me a rough est on what horsepower im in the range of. I just got done building the motor in my car and dont want to set it on a dyno untill everything seats in the motor. The list of what i have is, scat 331 stroker 9.5:1 compression, trickflow track heat heads, powerdyne supercharger running 9psi of boost with fmu, jba headers, bbk x-pipe no cats, flomaster catback, the intake is a stock cobra along with the 24lb injectors, stock cobra mass air and throttle body.

I tend to be conservative... I'm thinking between 410-420 engine hp.

If I were to put in my uneducated .02 cents it would be somewhere between 475-525.

It seems a bit difficult to drive the more the motor breaks in the more power its producing. No big surprise there. In second gear driving 30mph it will break traction like its in first gear. Should be a fun car to play with for a few weeks.

I am pretty sure you are passed the limits of the 24lb injectors. I would also be on the hunt for a new intake manifold but those are my .02

Default guess...

I have been doing a ton of research on 331's and combos lately and have seen a couple similar to yours some where out there...the average for that combo was around 410-460rwhp depending on dyno used. Just a question though, why didn't you choose to go turbo? I am just stuck on the idea just seeing why you chose supercharger for your setup?

If I am correct he already had the supercharger and he was just rebuilding. Mustangpat so what valve covers did you finally go with to clear the rockers?

I bought the car when it had a few mods including the supercharger. I rebuilt the supercharger due to the belt breaking. The lower end took a big crap on me and cracked 4 pistons. So there wasnt much of a need to go turbo since i bought the cobra for 6500 with the supercharger and trickflow track heat heads. As for the 24 pound injectors im sure thet are at there max but i havent had any problem with it leaning out or any predetanation wierd as that may be. As for the intake thats about the only thing i dont want to change since there isnt much on the car anymore that says its a cobra other than the badges and body.

The valve covers are still stock. I couldnt use the ford tall because of smog and went to talk to one of my friends thats a smog tech. Im sure he would have somged it for me but i dont wantg to be pulled over and lose my car because of some valve covers. I got rid of the baffle in the valve covers and used the ford racing gaskets and cleared the rockers not by much but it worked and im not leaking oil. The valve covers now look like crap but its better for them to look like crap than leak oil all over my motor.

Well I would really watch the injectors now since you got her running good now plus you punched it out to a 331. I also could have sworn that you were running 6 lbs. and you weren't sure. Did you ever hook up that boost gauge?

I didnt have a boost gauge before. Since i got her up and running again i found out im running 9psi. Before the lower end took a crap i got the supercharger running for a day.

Could be a very good point! You need to get that car on a dyno and get it tuned!

Not sure why it happened but i would assume it hydro locked the motor. There were broken head bolts in the block, head gasket that didnt seal. Could have been a number of things that could have done it. If it was running lean i would have known it by now or would have seen some indication of it on the piston face or valves. I plan on getting it dyno tuned but money is tight right now and my local shop wants $700 for dyno time. Saving up for it.
