Default trying to find out the diff. between a short block or long block

im trying to find out what the diff is between the 2

I guess that depends on why you want to know....are you looking at buying a new engine?

if so a long block should include cam, timing chain, and heads. where as a short block does not.

A short block is, just the block with internals. Where as a long block, is the block with internals and includes the heads with no intake, Mike. SCT Tuner.

Short block = Engine block + crank/rods/pistons + oil pump + oil pan
Long block = Short block + cam/lifters + timing set + timing cover + heads + valvetrain + valve covers

o ok so no diff. in the actual block just one comes with more and the other dont thanks guys thats what i need to know ya and im looking to buy a new engine thinking of a 347 stroker motor

Buy a 347 short block so you can pick the heads/intake/cam that you want. If you can find a long block with the heads that you already want, then get it. You save a little money getting a long block over a short block.
