well, after about a month of delay, keith and myself finally got the swap going. keith got up here last night, and we started yanking that old 3.8 at abour 9:30 this AM. everything went smooth, 3 hours, a couple of sliced exhaust manifolds, and a big huge mess later,we got her out! we got that engine on the stand, took off the torque converter to use on the new engine. then things got real interesting. we set my longtubes in the engine bay so we could drop the engine in and kinda fanaggle the headers on. wellllllll stupid ole' me didnt realize the headers were for a T5, not an auto
tranny, so they will not fit. great. so we ditched that idea and decided we would use shorties. cool, so we went to the parts store, and bought a new flywheel for the 5.0L. ok, so we are back on track, right? wrong! apparently, even though flywheel bolts are torqued to yield, and can only be used once, when you buy a new flywheel, bolts dont come with it. soooo, i have NO idea where im going to get this flywheel bolts i need, but either way, sally is not getting started this weekend. anyway, we decided just to dump the 5.0 in the bay anyways for some sweet pics and to get one engine out of the way for a week until we can finish her up next weekend.
well, heres the pics from the day, we still had fun even though we ran into some pretty major speed bumps. tomorrow we will probably swap out the fuel pump tomorrow, one less thing to do next weekend.
