Default Pro 5.0 shifter install - what handle to use?

I picked up a Pro 5.0 this weekend and found out pretty quickly that the stock handle and rubber bushings don't fit very well. For the time being, I'll find some shorter screws and bolt the stock handle - minus the bushings - directly to the shifter.

Do you guys use have a preference with handles? I'm liking the chrome Hurst one personally...

To each their own but I hated the Hurst handle. I found first and third gear were very close to the dash with my knuckles. I even tried turning the handle around but that made the shifts like 8" between gears. I then made my own handle, which was 10 times better than the Hurst.....but still did'nt look right in a fox IMO. Finally, I went to the Pro 5.0 but used the stock handle. I used a bench grinder and ground just enough metal and rubber (from the rubber bushings) off each side to clear the shifter stops. If you decide to do it this way, take a bit off at a time and keep fitting.... checking the stops as you go. I also used blue locktite on the threads. Now it shifts like a dream and looks stock.

I like my steeda handle. It's in the perfect spot... just don't care too much for the shifter itself....

I just like the look of the Hurst but if knuckles meet dash, not cool.

Reggie, I just have the base, no handle came with it! Is this the one you have?

That looks like the stock Pro5.0 handle to me.

I like the Steeda TriAx handle on a Pro 5.0 base. That way you get the 2-3 helper function of the Pro 5.0 and the better angle from the TriAx. Then you don't have to mail in a request for the 2-3 shift.

Well it's true. When you have to loosen the seatbelt and rise up close to the wheel to make that shift due to the shifter... especially when you're in that reclined hey-babe-I'm-your-man position. :hihi:
