1993 Mustang 5.0 vs 1999 Pontiac firebird question
ok, so my freind has a pontiac firebird i think its a 99 with the 350, car is stock, and a manual trans, i have a 93 lx, t-5, factory w/o ac, carpet removed from the trunk, no spare tire, flowmaster cat back, and a k&n cone filter, everything else is stock, i have all winter to work on the car so just wondering what i would need to beat him? planned on doing a 408 build but money got too tight. just gonna rebuild the 302 and wanted to add aome nitrous. wanted to know if there were any kits recomended for cheap, my performance part budget will be around 1k so looking for a nitrous kit thats not gonna break the bank. also looking into a set of 3.73's and a h/c/i swap a little further down the line.
sorry about the longer post and terrible punctuation.

That's an ls1 putting down at crank about 350 hp. You'll have to do a full out h/c/i and or hit up the bottle.
the 99 ls1 motor is 346 to 347 cubic size motor not hp.,that particular year they came out with the ls1 intake not ls6 ..at the crank is about 305 to 325 minus hp at the wheel.no joke there are very fast., i use to own a 02 t/a ws6 before they have lots of torque...my best suggestion is get some 4.10 gears, under drive pulley and some spray you should be fine with that. if you are a good driver you can get him at a dead stop race ls1 motor cant hook at a dead stop race... well depend if he as drags tires...

ls1's are underrated in the camaro/firebirds to make the vettes look better...
I hope that was because it was moldy and not a weight reduction technique of his...

+1, stock is 305HP but i've seen some put down 300rwhp. If you get some 4.10's, MT DR's and a 125 shot, you should be good. but, If he did cam and/or heads..you'll lose.

Yeah, we're just playing. Don't worry, but at least I got it right haha.
The under layment is a lot of weight (so I was told, it was gone in mine before I got it) if you're looking to shed some...
