Default Exhaust Help Needed!

Ok guys, First Time Post here, Help is greatly appreciated!
Heres My scenario:

Ive got a 1989 LX Foxbody 5.0. Currently, It has flowmaster exhaust, high flow cats, but stock headers. Im planning on switching to shorty headers and taking the cats off for straight pipes. I have the straight pipe conversion already, and put it on in place of the cats, however my check engine light is putting up quite a battle with everything. Is there any way to get around this? Thanks!

hmm. thats odd have you tried pullin your battery cables and re connecting them ? when you reconnect it it should in a way reset your computer and your car should relearn your driving style and other stuff it worked for my 94 5.0 it might be worth a try

You're just removing the cats? So your O2 sensor still have a home in the midpipe?

I would go with a bbk off road x or h pipe. I have it currently installed on my 93 cobra and they maintain the stock locations for the 02 sensors. I have yet to see a check engine light come on.

check the computer for trouble codes, usually a bad o2 sensor wont make the light come on,but it will throw a code in the computer

but you may have something else wrong
