omg HOW could I not even think about that...as soon as I read that it was like bam *light buld turned on*

It didn't even dawn on me that could be it. That sounds like a stronger possibility. Now from what I've heard...that job can be a MAJOR pain the the ass..

Please tell me this isn't true

You have to take the dash out to change the heater core...
Usually when the heater cores go out you will have coolant on your carpet in the passenger side.

True about having coolant on the floor, but you would also smell it all of the time, not at a certain rpm. Your problem has to be under the hood.

Heater core is the first thing I thought of when I read this thread my first 90 GT (I sold to my brother) had a bad core and it would only leak when driven hard most of the time it didn't either way it was on its way out My brother changed the heater core it took him all day and he ruined the AC while he was at it. Sorry but it is a nightmare

I noticed mine doing the same thing Saturday. Run it hard passing on a 2 lane hiway and noticed the smell.......slowed back down and it stopped. did it again and the same smell. im thinking it is my heater core........
