Default coolant smell when I give 3/4 or more throttle, this bad problem??

coolant smell when I give 3/4 or more throttle

This is only when I'm driving. If I were to rev it its fine, just when I'm driving I smell the coolant.

What could this mean?

Could mean a blown head gasket... Didn't you JUST rebuild your engine???

sigh..... yes...

Whats weird though is if it is in fact a blown head gasket I only have that one symptom. Nothing else...no loss in coolant, no miky oil, no white exhaust, nothing.

Anything else it could be?

How long has this problem been going on?

I noticed mine was blown when I changed my oil and it was really foamy. Now I can smell coolant after the engine warms up. I don't get any white smoke either, but I did have foamy oil.

It's very possible that you blew a head gasket and have a slow leak.

maybe a month and a half. No foamy oil for me either and thats whats confusing me and giving me a little hope that its not blown. Well...if they are blown then maybe, and this is just a maybe, I'll port/polish the AFR's.

I'll notice a difference if I port them, wont I ?

I can't think of any other reason you'd be smelling warm coolant, unless it's just leaking from somewhere else (externally).

Just put those AFR's on and already wanting more huh?
That, my friend, is the first sign of addiction.

With a good port job, you'll feel a noticeable difference!

Addiction is hard to beat!

With this one...I'm not even going to put up a fight

One thing that I'm a little shaky on is I had GT40s with 1.72 RR's and had more low end. Wish I still had that much, but...when I hit 3600rpm I'm gone! pulls through 6000rpm.

But a little before I noticed the smell I felt a decrease in power from what it was. I don't know if that'll help any with tryin to pin point this problem

What intake and cam do you have? You have the 165 AFR's right?

Yeah AFR 165's. FRPP 1.6 RR's
Eddy RPM upper and lower intakes

Cam is unknown. Supposedly its a Motorsports cam, so B303, E303 or F303. I would love to have custom grind. I have a buddy that has a secret spec for his cams and make WICKED POWER! he wont tell me but he said he'd help me build specs.

Have you had coolant anywhere on the engine, like the engine block or elsewhere? It seems to leave a residual smell even though it's dry, that might be what you're smelling. If it's not dropping the coolant level, that would be my guess. I have the same thing, my timing cover gasket split and now I can smell coolant even though there's no leak anywhere.

instead of looking for clues, have the coolant system pressure checked this will tell you exactly where the coolant is leaking or not,

See if the coolant smell is coming from the air vents in the dash. It could be a leaky heater core if it hasn't been replace before.
