Default Turn Signal Problem - 1988 Mustang GT

My turn signals are having a problem. Here is the deal:

I turn the car on, and the left and right signals work SOMETIMES. And if they do, it's only temporary. After about five minutes of driving, they stop working.

When they do work, they blink faster than normal. All four of them do it, the two in the front and two in the back. It's not that the bulbs are burned out because my hazards work just fine (the hazards use the same bulbs on the front and rear). I tried switching the power unit (the three dollar plug that goes into the fuse box; forgot what it's called) and that didn't do it.

Could it be a bad connection? Or could it be time to get a new turn signal switch?

If the arm is from 1988, chances are it's the signal arm. They have a life of approximately 14-17 years so it's it's the original arm, it's overdue to die.
That would be my guess. If it is the arm, it'll need a NEW signal arm, not an used one or from ebay.

also check the flasher behind the glove box, cant think of how it would make it flash fast but it would cause it to flash when it wants to if it is sticking.
