Default Body Shop Kind of Disappointed Me

So a couple months ago I busted up my door and it wouldnt close, I finally got my hands on another door and took it to a body shop to get the old door removed and the new one on and all fresh paint. So I give it to the shop friday and they look it over and I look today and its sitting outside the shop, the door still wont close so im a little worried about it exposed to the elements. This car is my baby! So im kind of dissapointed that they just leave it outside overnight with the door wide open: Just venting let me know what you guys think.

Not cool man...not cool. I feel your pain. Babies are never meant to be left out in the cold. Garage-kept is ALWAYS the way to go!

yeah. you should talk to them, not angrily, but professionally about them not taking the proper care of your car. i tell ya man some of these places don't give one lousy SHITE about anyones car, they just are concerned about the paycheck. do what that dude ^ said right above me, complain to the company, call the owner of the place, do something so they get it DRILLED into their heads that they need to take CARE of their customers' investments. ive been there on crappy body shop jobs, and trust me if something like what has happened before or something like is happening to you happens to me, i swear, someone is gonna get reemed and someone if going to get fired. sorry about the intensity, i just hate it when i hear about things like that. but yeah, do something to attack it from the inside out for sure

You have a spare key? Go over there tonight and drive it home.

Call them in a few days to check on progress.

You should definitely call and speak with them about that. Also what did they tell you in regards to the eta of getting your car back cause if they got a full shop then she might be sitting outside longed than needed. Plus don't blow a gasket cause then all you will get back is your car with no work done or maybe even worse. Be professional.

+1!!! Haha

That would be funny.

Dude sorry to hear. I would definately report to the BBB. Thats not cool at all. I figured it would've been done by now. Not even the door on a freakin 80s celica should be left open outside.

Heres food for thought. I gave my lawn mower to a company to have the belt replaced. It was always garaged and cost me about $1200. It sat outside for 3 weeks before they finally fixed it. As a result when I went to pick it up they call me and say they had to replace the battery. Battery was fine when I dropped it off. They charged me for it. I made them give me the old one to test it. I got home mower wouldnt start found out it was because the rust on the ground cable from sitting in the rain for 3 weeks. Tjey wouldnt return the battery because I left w/ it. Then I notice rust on the rear body from sitting in the rain I let it go because they were a paing in my ass. That rust by next year had eatin most of the rear of the mower away. So just incase your wondering what your in for havin a car w. the door open in the rain there it is. Along w/ stained seats carpet etc.

Body shops are famous for getting your car there and then holding it hostage while they work on the ten other cars they have inside.

They should tell you up front how long they will have your car and should keep you informed along the way.

If they have not started any work, you could always pick it up and take it to another shop but they can charge you for storage if they want.

I guess your car is now being held hostage.
Hope they don't keep it to long.
I would call them at least twice a week for a progress report.
After a while, they will be tired of hearing from you and hopefully finish the job to get you off their back..

Good luck
