Tips for removing factory sound deadening material? Have been wanting to remove old carpet for awhile and I got to looking at it and noticed that it was damp in corners. I pulled it out and checked but had no rust. I want to remove the glued sound deadening pieces and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for this. I spent a few minutes with a putty knife seeing what would come up and a few pieces are worn enough to break up but it's not easy. Ive seen this done with a putty knife and a blow torch but I would very much like to stay away from a potential fire hazard. I'm thinking about something similar to an indistrial strength goof-off...
