Ok i know you guys said a 3000 stall is not to big to drive on the street but why does the guy im getting the truck from seem to think it will burn up the trans if i do is there a chance it can burn it up
Not by putting a 3,000 stall. Its not like your forcing your clutchs to slip.. I dont know how to explain how a stall convertor works but look at it like this.
Its just like adding a shift kit to your aod/aode (94+). It doesnt hurt anything, just changes the setup. Same with a manual valve body. Start putting out some serious rwhp and you will want kevlar bands and clutches ect for the trans. You will be fine, I have never heard of that happening ever.

I don't know why he thinks it will, only he does. Maybe he has no idea of how converters work. Maybe he's heard horror stories. Maybe it's just his opinion.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

He may be talking about the input shaft snapping. Ive heard of it when putting higher stall converters in trucks. once you get into the torque curve and its bangs in it may snap. Just a thought.

its got a after market cooler it does slip like crazy till 3000 im putting the stock one back in this must be a cheap convertor cause it is really not a streetable convertor could only be good for mud bogging
by slip at lower speeds are you having issues keeping it at a normal/steady RPM while cruising or is it creeping up on the flash speed while you're cruising?
i ran a 3600 P.I. 9" in a 3800# truck w/o any issues for years.

it just takes a bit to get it going it goes fine once it hits 3 gs but from a dead stop it takes some work to go plus there is no muffler so i dont want to just romp on it
Thats the down side to having a 3,000 stall. It aint moving till 3,000 rpms. So for everyday driving its not ideal, but for sitting at the line waiting for the tree to light, you can rev it up a little and launch in the powerband. For a DD 3,000 is quite a bit, I would stay around 2200-2400 for DD. just my opinion though. I hope it works out for you.
