I just picked up my secound 86 5.0L, & I have been driving it for almost two weeks. Then today I was looking at the engine & I relized my TPS wasn't there, just a white spade sticking up with the holes for the sensor. Car runs great has a little hesitation when I first take off when its cold but when its warm its great. Should I get a new sensor and put it on & would make any difference? Should there be more problems if theres no TPS?
So I should get a lot more power then? Just taught my other car was cammed. It has a roll cage & flowmaster ss exhaust with a offroad H pipe. Is there anything I should know about installing one?
So I went home at lunch & looking at the sensor found out it was still there but not hooked up. so i screwed it in the throttle body but if I test the green & black wire I get 1.5 or 1.4, test the sensor on my other 86 & I get about 1.2. Am I doing something wrong or are both sensor bad? was going to put the one that is 1.2 on but it wont fit unless I dremel the plate on the body. So I put the one on that reads 1.4-5 & it seems to be a little more responsive than it was with none, but i'm wondering if it could be better????? when I tested them in my hand unpluged that was when I got my lowest reading.
I had everything off & was testing it with it unpluged from the harness, if i turn the key to on, without running would that be the proper way to test it?
