Default rear axle ID on a 4banger?

hey i'm sure this has been answered before but i haven't read it yet, but do 87-93 4cyl come with 8.8 rearend? if not answer me this. i'm doing a v8 swap using a stock 302 out of a wrecked 89lx converting it to carb and going to keep it stock except for a edelbrock intake and 600cfm carb. will the stock rearend hold up? this car will never see the track nor will it be racing anything! just a clean looking daily driver, now i may get bit by the bug here and there and spin the tires but will it be okay? and what ratio gears do this 4cyl have? 93lx 2.3?.. thanx

no, its not an 8.8

if you never ever ever beat on it, it will last forever. as long as you put some crappy tires on it that won't hook up you might squeeze a few burn outs from it.

oddly enuff the 8.8 and 7.5 rears use the same exact axles from the factory, which is probably the weak point

there should be a little metal tag on one of the dif cover bolts with a bunch of #'s on it..if its still there, post what it says and we can tell you if its a 8.8 or 7.5 and what gear ratio is in it from the factory
