Default 1991 Mustang LX, 460 or 302 turbo?

hello everyone.
in the next two weeks im picking up a 91lx 5.0 5spd car. the car is gutted with all parts in boxes. the deal comes with a 460 big block mated to a c4, also getting a mild 302 with heads/cam and new 73mm garrets turbo and intercooler. the question is do I install the 460 or 302/turbo. my intensions are to keep it streetable and take it to the drags once in a while. all parts are going back in the car. the front has new tubular k-member with coilovers, rear suspension is still stock, 8.8with 4.10s. this will be a winter project. what would you do?

i like the idea of the 302 turbo.. but i LOVE the muscle car sound you'll get out of a big block!!!

I sometimes wish my biggest problem in life was having to choose between a 302 turbo or a 460 big block

I say go with the 302....

the 460 could be fun....

but its a lot more than just dropping the engine in the car.....

slap the turbo on the 460. dont know how streetable that would be though.

Just me knowing that enough is never enough, I would probably go with the foundation that could grow--460.

I think the 460 could be poked out even bigger later if you wanted. The 460 block also can take a ton more HP than stock 302 block.

460 should have a different tranmission

302 with c-4 would be nice and fun

351 with c-4 and turbo even more fun

the more power to motor the more changes to the tranmission will need to be done

Ok this is coming from a turbo guy while the turbo 302 will have the cool gone on. it will still be a stock block 302. Now with the 460 if you could put a set of aluminum heads on it that would shave a lot of weight off the swap and that 460 will make lots of HP even in a mild set up and the torque will be there also and it is gone to be right now if you need some more the stroke it to a 514 then if you want more stroke it to a 550 they make great power on the cheap. and you don't have to rev the crap out of them and they are pretty reliable.

I too would say go 460 sell the 302 and turbo and get some heads and cam for the 460.

I knew this would be tough. either setup would be a killer powerhouse. correction: turbo is a 76mm. im picking up everything next saturday with tons of extra parts. Ill post of my decision and load up some pictures of the project as im building the car. this should keep me busy for awhile.
