I was wondering I'm building a 302 ho stroker. I am going for a 352. I am planning on using a stock cam or .500 lift cam or so. I dont know if i should get gt-40 heads or leave them stock. it is going into a street machine that isnt going to be making to much horsepower. i am looking around 350 or so. i was wondering if i should also get a gt-40 intake or just gasket match and port the intake. i am going to put a 70mm maf sensor on it.

I dont know if i should get gt-40 heads or leave them stock. the heads i have now are stock e7s i think with really large valves. they are actually a little bigger than gt-40 valves. I have a stock intake off a 93 mercury cougar and am probably going to run it unless i can get a gt-40 for cheap. What do you'll think i should do? I am going to put some 24lb or 30lb injectors also.
you will be disipointed if you leave the stock cam and heads in there, the 70mm maf is fine, gt40 intake is alright, you would have to chang your injectors to at least 24lb.
First, why would you spend the money at the machine shop to bore and balance your block to prep it for the stroker kit ?
Second, why would you even spend that kind of money on a stroker kit just to run stock heads and intake ?
Three, have you ever attemped doing something like this yourself before.
And fourth, why don't you utilize those monies on a good set of heads and intake and have good steetable HP if all you want is a street machine ?
Trust when we say, do your research, plan your work and work your plan, this will save you alot of money and time down the road. You don't go through the hassle and expenses of a stroker kit and run everything else stock as the Virgin Mary just to say you have a stroker kit !

You would get a better engine if you were to keep it a 302 and put good aftermarket heads and intake on it than by getting a stroker that'll be choked by stock heads and intake. That's like trying to run a marathon while breathing through a straw. The stock heads and intake is restrictive enough on a 302, put them on a stroker and it'd run out of steam before 5000. Additional cubes will only exacerbate just how pathetic the stock heads and intake really are. And yes, GT40 heads are still considered stock heads.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

I read that build up some time ago and I think they used a mexican block and it was a Probe stroker kit of some sort. But again not something I would dump money into doing.
