Default T5 fluid incorrect, TPS check.

Ok, so here is something scary...

I pulled the drain plug on the T5 and nothing came out. I was like maybe its clogged... So I stuck a small flat head in the drain hole and wiggled it, and jelly started to trickle out. Looked like the goo the the aliens ooze out of their mouths. So that could be the reason I'm having rough shifts... lol.. So now I'm taking a heat gun to the top of the tranny case to heat the goo up to get it out of the tranny... oh the things people do to their poor cars. I could actually hear my project car sigh in relief.....

also, on my TPS sensor issue. I've learned that the easiest way to check if your TPS is good or bad is to take the connector off and put the meter in line with the signal wire(green) and ground (meter on resistance)... Then just check for a decrease in ohm's when you step on the throttle (engine and key off). In my case I was chasing down why the sensor would start at 5v. Well thats because the computer is shorted internally, hence pushing 5vdc straight to the the signal return line, a big no no.

Just thought I'd share...

Sorry to hear about the tranny fluid. If you drive it until it reaches operating temp. you should get it to run out a little easier. I'd refill it with the proper ATF a couple of times and flush it before refilling it for good to make sure you get all the old crap out of there.

The ECU as far as I know only recognizes voltage change as usable information. It gives a 5V refrence voltage to the TPS on one wire, and reads that change on the signal ouput wire back to the ECU. The left over wire being ground. Use the computer's 5V to check the signal wire (meter set to DC Volts) with the positive lead on the meter and negative lead to ground to check for voltage change at different throttle positions. You should see a range inside of 0 and 5 volts.

Yeah that was my thought too, I just wanted to see if the lube was the issue, it did help but didn't solve the entire problem.. I've just pulled the T5 and I'm getting ready to start rebuild. The rebuild kit is on its way.. I can't wait to pull the gears and see all the shaved metal slivers.

man ... you're likely gonna need more than a rebuild kit

Default tranny problem

ok dont drive it,surprised it hasnt froze up already.call a pro a tranny shop in ur area ask them what to do.they would know,if you speak to a dummy hang up on him and keep going down the line to ur to sastified.all u have to do is stick ur finger in the drain plug and if ur finger isnt red fill it up.i fill mine till it creates a huge puddle on the ground. messy but accurate. peace man
