thats one of the things fox's are notorious for...really crappy brakes. that's why there's so many brake upgrades for them. latemodelrestoration.com has a lot of big brake upgrades and rear conversions for 4 lugs. SSBC, Baer, and a few other brands. i'm sure Wilwood makes some too.

Why in the world would Ford use drums in the rear? I went to the bigger calipers in the front and will eventually convert to 5 lug discs all around. But yeah stock sucks. I notice a difference since I changed though.
I just bought pads and calipers for a 92 lincoln I believe and got the complete brake setup for a 88 tbird turbo coupe. Jegs has the FMS brake cables and adj proportioning valve and gut plug for the factory one. Classic tube will make a set of SS hoses that will help and theyll put the fittings for whatever your using. 93 Cobra MC and booster. Northracecars.com has the brackets or even complete kits
ya def gotta look into a conversion kit thats gonna be on my list of winter projects im guessen there pretty expensive

I hope I'm not hijaking the thread here, spdjnky_42, is that kit that northracecars.com offers under the "Cobra" listing the complete conversion kit if I wanted to change out my rear drums on my '89 fox?
Last winter I did the lincoln caliper upgrade and S/S lines front and back. Made a HUGE difference. I can actually do a panic stop at highway speeds now.
No longer hit the brakes and wonder "Am I going to stop before I hit that guys bumper?"
I must also agree that the brakes do suck but I want to keep my welds and choices are very limited for 15" rims. I also need to save up some more flow since she is going down for the H/C/I swap with LT headers.
I warped my stock rotors so I put a new set on with new pads. Warped them by half the pad life. Went with new Powerslot rotors and ceramic pads. Warped them again. Now I went with the Cobra set up and it is way better. Bigger rotors, bigger calipers, new master cylinder, and lines for $450. Best bang for your buck brake upgrade I found. That just changed the front, the rear is still stock GT. I have a 94 so it had rotors in the back already. And why would I want better brakes in the back? I'll just wear them out doing brake torques.
I live in the praries and there is a lot of open straight road to open the car up. I guess the stock brake are just to wimpy to slow the car down from 120MPH.

I want all the stopping pwr I can get. They invented line lock/roll control for the brake issue.
