[89 Ford HO]

i bought a package of resistors and one of them is a 390 ohm 1/2 watt.the package is from radioshack.

would anyone know what the 390 ohm is

The bands on it will be Orange - White - Brown

then a space and either gold, silver, or no band, depending on the +/- error

i tried using a Ohm meter but it didn't read right and i tried doing the math and i did something wrong

Math? The bands around the outside should tell you what the value of the resistor is. What math were you doing?

The multimeter really should've worked What was it reading across the resistor?

How many bands are on the resistor?

This is a 390 ohm resistor. The color of the bands will be the exact same as this, in the same order. The body of the resistor doesn't matter.
