Question 1989 Ford mustang rack n pinion steering

I have a problem and was wondering if anyone could help me out...I have to replace my rack n pinion and i went to napa and ford to see if i could order one but i guess for my year of car there is three different ones so i went to my buddies work put the car up on the hoist and got a number like this (RF-EOBC-3550-AA) so is this the part number or a assembly id number.. and maybe someone will kno which rack i need so i can get this car to pass out of province inspection

car info 1989 ford Mustang coupe lx 5.0L 5spd with no a/c

call the dealership and give them your vin # they should be able to tell you which one you have.

Not sure on the rack but should be able to run the VIN through ford and find out

If they are expensive theres better options out to have better driveability like Flaming River.

It doesnt matter which one you get its just the difference in the gear get the one with the TRW gear it will make your steering ratio better

I went to the ford dealership in town Lamb Ford there said my car was to old to look it up ...i was thats kinda bs then this week i went to get a belt for my car and they only could get the belt with a/c not the belt w/out ac...all 3 racks are $156.. 1 rack is for the sport model?? iam thinkin that must be for the cobra.. i will just order that one

i just did mine. btw its a pain in the ass to do on the ground. if u can try to get a lift. as far as the racks...the only difference is the turning radius so it really only matters how big your rims and tires are. i think theyre 1 1/4, 1 1/2 and 2. i went with the 1 1/2 and i only hit the fenderwell if i go too far to the left and thats with 245/55 17's

ok i wasnt to sure but i will order one now... thanks and ya my roommate works at dodge so we will be doing it at his work..alot easier plus the alignment can be done right afterwards
