I want to pick up a new set of wires for the project car.. right now the igntion system is stock for the most part and everything is new. I have a MSD coil and MSD cap and rotor kit. I have plans of getting 6al ignition box sometime in the near future. Do you guys think Taylor Cable 10.4mm's are overkill for my setup?
I have a 91 5.0 with the igntion setup listed above, 24lbs injecters, spec stage two clutch kit and its in a 2300lbs bmw coupe.

Power goal is 300whp road tripable
Yes those are a bit overkill. Just get a set of Ford Racing wires 8mm or 9mm. And you shouldn't need the 6al box unless your pushing more than 350HP and/or using nitrous/forced induction. You'll just be blowing your money away otherwise.

i must agree to a certain degree, anything over stock wire size on a stock ingniton is not necessary, i went from 9mm FMS to plan jane autozone wires went the track the next day and ran no slower or faster, but gas mileage will increase with bigger wires, due to the ability not to resists current flow, 10.4mmm is big but stock or 9mm size would be better, but again its up you and it your wallet, hope this helps

Better mileage on bigger wires w/ stock ignition? That Id like to see!
I haven't heard that bigger wires will increase mileage.
The 10.4 wouldn't hurt, if you want them then get them. What counts is the internal construction of the wire. Taylor gives their wires more external insulation to improve the noise suppression and electrical interference, hence the larger size.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

They definitely won't HURT anything. Just unnecessary, and won't see any power gains.
