sounds like it's just the battery, no hardware. do you just need a new battery? It would be easier/cheaper to go to a local auto parts store and buy a battery there, you can find a stock replacement battery for about 80-100 bucks depending on the warranty plus the optima batteries are about 150- 200 dollars with no shipping.

I'd recommend the Duralast red top at Auto Zone, it's well known as a great performer in tests done.
I put one in my Cobra a couple months ago and it cranks over immediately with authority..
I have a friend that's works there and one at Advance Auto and the most defective battery returns they get is the Optima Red Tops? I don't know if that's just the Florida heat but they don't last long down here..
Yeah I just attached a link, it's for my store location in Florida so just choose one closest to your state..
Click the "Store Locator" icon at the top of the page! I noticed a couple in Wyoming, that'll be close and you wouldn't have to pays sales tax online ordering..
I'm not sure if an individual store will ship a battery or if AutoZone has a central location they use for shipping stuff like this, I'd call the ONE that's in your state, haha!!
Never heard that Optima has defects, I too am wondering if it's the Florida conditions that it doesn't like. I've had Optimas for years and never had a problem. If there are defects, I think those with Optima batteries need to know so anything you can post about them would help.
As for that battery in the link, I have that exact one and when I got mine from my local shop (Carolina Mustang), it didn't have any notations that it came with any brackets or adapters but it did. Took the plastic off and they were included. I would think the one from LRS would be the same way because it was the Optima packaging that had them.

Optima is one of the best IMO and then Die-Hard or Interstate as a close second. Expensive as hell though. Gonna be installing one after my Motorcraft one runs out of juice.

Yeah Eagle it could have something to do with the heat and humidity down here, my friends that work at both Auto Zone and Advance say Optima Red Tops come in defective twice as much as their store models (Duralast and Everstart). Not trying to scare anyone away from Optima, this is just what they've told me in conversations! My battery died a couple months ago and both suggested the Duralast Group 58-DL even though one friend works for the competition, haha! http://www.duralastparts.com/index.php?page=batteries
