My '94 GT is about to break 130K miles. Are mods really worth the effort now? I don't have enough money for anything significant right now, but still would like to add a bit more hp, and eventually a lot more. What do you guys think? Where should I go from here?
Theres nothin wrong with a little help on the induction side (CAI, TB) and nothin wrong with a free flowing exhaust. Not sure what you have done, so I'm just doing with the basics.

I'm completely stock. Right now, I'm having a spec stage 1 installed, but that's only because my throwout was going bad, so it needed to be done. I only bought this last march, so I'm still kind of getting a feel for what needs to be done and what I should just add to my wish list. It'd be great to buy a cai and stuff like that, but I eventually want to start doing more than just basic bolt-ons. So my common sense tells me to just save the money, rebuild and then start modding more. But I'm only 20 and new to this whole game, so I wanted to get input from people who are more experienced with this kind of stuff as far as money/time/effort go. The only downside is that I'm paying for school and need to save money anyway, so it will be another two years minimum before I can put any significant money in to the car.
If you plan on building the motor later down the road when you have more money and if its going to be N/A then i dont see a problem with you getting just like the basic CAI and full exhaust and maybe a TB cuz you will still be able to use those on you motor after you build it and they will compliment your new motor. And it will make you much happier with the way your car performs and sounds for the time.
I am also 20 and paying for college classes so my cash flow aint great for my turbo project right now. So i feel ya

I'm also 20 and going through the usual college expenses while trying to build my Fox. If you can't build for a LONG time like you said, enjoy what you can right now. Get the basics and have fun, CAI, TB, exhaust, gears, U/D pullies. Just the minor stuff to get you a little farther and can be used later on.

i agree, especially if you're just going to do a stock rebuild later. any bolt on parts you buy now will compliment your newly rebuilt motor later as well. gears will wake your car up temendously. i'd get a set of 4.10's a full exhaust and an intake. is it stick or aod?

Exactly. You dont have to rebuild the motor right now. It will handle the bolt on stuff just fine and will improve your performance until you have time and money to do your fuild rebuild

Like i earlier mention i am 20 and doing a turbo build on my 1994. But before this point i had full exhaust and CAI. I loved the power and sound that those bolt ons gave me and yes i cant use my Headers, H-pipe, and CAI now with the turbo kit. but It was well worth the money i paid to use those parts for as long as i did. I killed ricers here in portland and got compliments on how my car sounded from everyone. Including Chevy lovers which is pretty rare!!!

Its not that hard to understand. We want to further our project with mods that can still be used when we rake in a better cash flow. Its no fun having the car and not being able to put our own twist on it even if its temporary. I personally along with the OP of this thread are in the same boat. I've had my current mods for about 2 years because I can't afford to do anything else, yet I want to still have fun.

why do you young guys like throwing money away.....
wait do it right not twice......
if you must spend money put it in suspension upgrades.....
True. Suspension will help him some. And idk why. Lol. for me i knew it was going to be a very long time before i had the money to do any big building so i wanted to make due to make my car faster with the money i had at the time. And if he buys bolt ons that he can use later or suspension upgrades like you just mentioned i dont see the problem with him spending the money on parts he will use later too

I'm right there with you buddy, with my currents I was having fun at the track and getting some street racing in with my local club. I prolly won't keep all of my mods either when I go to my full build, but I've enjoyed every second in my drivers seat with them.
