Default My 1/8 mile trap speeds

Well my car finally got to "sorta" run the 1/8 mile Sunday. I let my mechanic run it to the track Sunday to start tuning the car since it is NOW DONE WHOOPIE!!! Anyways he just rolled out in first then about half throttle in second then floored it in third through the traps. Of course he shut it down to check the plugs after but it done 97 MPH in a 1/8 mile through the traps and that is just screwing around!
I can't wait to see what it will do once it's tunes and ready to go!!!

Brutal metal the car is in my profile.
Yeah I can't remember but the 60 ft times were HORRIABLE.
This is because he just rolled it off the line and did not even punch it until he was in third. It was far from all out. We are thinking the car should be mid 9's in the 1/4 mile once it's finished if we can make it hook.

Yeah I actually had purchased the standard TKO 600 tranny and had it in the car while we were building it. I was concerned with this kind of power would scramble the TKO 600 So I stumbled upon MMR'S TKO 900 which is a standard TKO 600 that has been taken apart and all the gears and shafts etc were cryo treated. Cryo treating is pretty cool and used allot on serious 4 wheel jeeps and trucks etc to make axles and other components that break during serious 4 wheel off roading much stronger. Do a google on it it's amazing how much strength cryo treating adds. Some people do entire blocks! So MMR did a cool thing and took a already strong tranny and made it stronger :-) MMR has a 8 sec mustang running this tranny. So when it comes to strength I think I got everything covered

Oh Yeah I'm familiar with cryo-treating, I have a friend that owns a shop that does it to golf clubs..
Sounds like you got the drivetrain covered, do you have any issues with the TKO's first gear ratio launching?

I have not yet really got to try it at the track. Is there a problem with the TKO's in first gear that I am not aware of? I have hit it pretty hard in first gear on the street but have not had any issues yet.

No it's not the strength just the ratio of the 1st gear, no worries the TKO 600 comes stock with a 26 spline input shaft.
Example
TR-3650-3.38
T-45- 3.37
Stock T-5- 3.35
TKO 500-3.27
World Class T-5-2.95
TKO 600- 2.87

Yeah it's low as heck! I found it being sorta problem on the street because it just breaks lose so easy, it is so low your shifting before you have time to let up off the gas it's hard to shift fast enough really. But I think it should be better at the track "HOPEFULLY" Since I should get much more traction.
