Default MAF tuned for CAI with Stock Airbox

Long time reader first time poster.

I have recently installed GT40 heads Cobra intake and 24lb injectors as well as a Pro-M MAF tuned for the 24lb injectors and a CAI but still have the stock airbox. Currently I have a WOT miss at about 4700 RPM and have replaced most of the usual suspects- Distributor, TFI Module and TPS (and set with .98v.) I am thinking the miss is due to the Non-CAI tuned MAF with the stock setup. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I purchased the MAF with the intent to upgrade to a CAI at a later date.

I have looked and looked but cannot find any answer on this. I know that the car should run better once I get the CAI but was wanting to know if the miss could be due to the incorrect meter. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

I wouldn't think the CAI would cause such a problem. I mean how would the MAF know if there was a CAI or not????

When was your last tune up?

Oh yeah... Welcome to the site! You'll love it!!!

Good question and thanks for responding,

The MAF I purchased was supposedly calibrated for a fenderwell CAI. So my understanding is that the airflow pattern going to the meter will be different when having a fenderwell CAI so the MAF sensor should have a different calibration than a stock setup. Probably not a huge deal but since I upgraded the injectors when I did the intake and the heads I figured I would go with the MAF calibrated for a fenderwell CAI because I was going to add one anyways. Obviously I am going to by the air intake anyways but I am trying to see if their is anything else that could be causing this condition.

Thanks, I have been reading this site for a while and love it

With a fenderwell CAI, there is about a 90* bend after the fender and into the MAF. That can cause some turbulance in the airflow. So that MIGHT be what the "CAI tune" is for. Not sure though...

Well I replaced the plugs and wires when I did the heads and intake manifold so recently. So I'm going to buy a fenderwell CAI and see what happens.
