Im about to come into about 1000 dollars canadian... which is like 785 american or somethign close to that.
Anyway..
with that money, whats the best bang for your buck in regards to pure performance?
I barely have anything done to my stock 88lx, except for a new pump/fuel regulator, a new coil, and some wires...
other then that, shes all factory.
So whats the next step?? Thoughts and opinions needed.
Thanks.
What aspect of performance are you talking about? Suspension, braking, horse power are all aspects to look at when building what you want. The very first part you should get should be subframe connectors before you start doing anything hp wise.
Then think about gears in the rear, this is a must to get off the line and out in front of your competition. They run around $150 and FRPP set up very nice in the rear with minimal noise. I would also think about getting some good tires and doing smart upgrades like (timing, plugs, cap, rotor, filters, etc.....) With the rest of the money go into the Cold Air kits and Exhaust. Everyone wants their stang to sound off so go and get a nice H or X pipe and some flowmasters and make her sound off!!
And there is always NITROUS........enough said

i would go for the gears first. (from a pure bang for the buck performance view) and then a catback. (then eventually work my way foward, h or x pipe, headers, heads, etc.) while i agree that subs are a good thing to have you dont really need them right now, unless you have a convertible.
haha.. yes, im going to have to con some money out of that sucker..
But anyway..
somersdp, im basically just looking for speed. So gears i think im definatly going to get, a set of FRPP 3.73's i think, cause i rarely leave town with it, or do any highway driving.
But that wont account for all the money...
hrmm....
gears for sure, you just have to decide what kind you want, 3.73's or 4.10's. If you do a lot of highway driving I would stay with 3.73's. With the rest of the dough I would complete your exhaust and get that stang sounding like it's suoposed to, then like somers said concentrate on the suspension.
If i were to start buying exhaust parts online though, where would be the best place?
Anyone had any experience in this matter?
I would get a kit from a local shop here in the city, but we dont really have one. Just 1 place called 'zelmores automotive', and i might aswell just give them access to my credit card with the amount they would charge.
1. Gears 2. Exhaust (headers and catback then h pipe if $$ allows) 3. pullies (yes they are worth it) 4. Don't forget the FREEBIES!! Remove the air silencer and bump that timing!! Also get a short throw shifter. Obviously no HP gains but quicker et's and makes the car more fun to drive. I always have purchased my exhaust stuff from Summitt. But there are a ton of other great companies to go through. Be different and get a Mac flowpath exhaust. Deeper and more raw than flowmaster- Which I've had on my 2 previous Stangs. Don't get me wrong...Flo's are great 2 but everyone's got em. Most importantly..If your not beating the piss out of your car..your not driving it properly Good luck

Ive heard so many stories that they work wonders, and just as many that little to no result was achieved.
pullys do work, especially on the 5.0, people have to be realistic as to how much hp their going to get out of them regardless of what the advertisments say. you can gain anywhere from 3-5 hp. (8-10 best case scenario) thats not alot but you have to remember your not spending alot to get them either.
a quick question that is related to my own topic, lol..
Am i going to have to buy some sort of special kit to help install the 3.73's im planning on getting?? Or should the ring gear bolts and washers, crush sleeve, etc etc be okay to just re-install???
Summit sells a good 8.8 deluxe kit for the 3:73 install that I highly recommend if your rear is untouched...........so to speak! (LOL) DO NOT buy from your local speed shop as they mark up prices to stay in buisness. It is nice to see a part and buy it, buy buy off line so you dont pay sales tax and big companies like summit and dealers in MM&FF are rarely undersold. As for exhaust, I would ask around and get many opinions on differnent combinations that people like, cause like myself, certain people are stuck to one exhaust note and will swear by it without hearing others peoples point of views. Pulleys are worth the money, but I wouls go ahead and find some aluminum kits even though they might be $10 more. And if performance in the 1320 is everything you are aiming for , lose the front sway bar and for $42, trunk mount that battery. Just my $.02 man.
