Im looking into installing a couple 2 1/16th autometer gauges into my car, just to keep an eye on the few things the stock gauges do poorly at.
Anyway... im looking at summit at the wide plethora of gauges they have, and it seems like the ones that are lighted from the back with the 'cool' kinda lighting are hella expensieve.. like the Lunar series... whereas the sport comp series is not as expensive, and does not mention anything about night driving.
Do these gauges have some sort of lighting to them? Cause my car is not driven purely in the day time, haha...
If im not mistaken..the lunar series and cobalt series have the uniform backlighting. The rest of them are lighted by a bulb which is not uniform. ie - brighter in some spots and darker in others. I have the lunar series nitrous pressure and air/fuel but don't have them installed yet. My Monster Tach is bulb lighted which drives me crazy. Hope this helps.

WhitePony is correct. Autometer claims that the better lit gauges are also more accurate which accounts for the price, but I think they are just jacking up the price on the gauges they know will sell better.
All the AutoMeter's are lighted. I've got the Phantoms, and they have a single bulb in the back that illumniates the face. To the opposite of what people have said, the guages are illuminated uniformaly, it's just not direct lighting.
I havent seen the Phantom style gauges lit up. But I've seen some others that were only so so as far as even lighting. U really can't go wrong with any autometer gauge. Also..I think you can change the bulb colors 2. Great way of keeping the look of your interior fresh. My Lunar gauges are one color and they go in the trash once the phosphor burns out. Wow.. I never spend my money wisely
