Default Which cam? Comp Cams XE264HR or Trickflow Stage 1

Ok, I got a hold of Comp Cams and they gave me a cam that should work good with my combo. Just wanted to ask you guys opinions to see what should be better. Keeping in consideration the picky '94-'95 computer...

Choice 1- Comp Cams XE264HR 1985-95 Mustang 5.0/5.8L Comp Xtreme Energy Camshaft, Hydraulic Roller, Fw Xe264hr-14 by Comp Cams at LRS - Same Day Shipping!
Choice 2- Trick Flow Stage 1 1986-95 Mustang 5.0/5.8L Trick Flow "Track Heat" Roller Camshaft, Stage 1 at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

Going with 170cc Twisted Wedge heads, GT40 intake on a 306ci. 3.73 gears.....

i dont think you should limit your cam choice to "picky-ness" of the computer..the whole setup would really benefit from a tune anyway..i know its easy to spend other people's $$,but thats my $.02

what are your goals for the car?

I agree 100%......

Buy the best cam for the best performance & repair a couple more lawnmowers ......

Save your money , Get it tuned.....

you should get a camshaft delete kit

Why not a F cam its has the "lumpiest" idle.......

i see this too..every time someone calls comp for a cam rec., they come back here saying "i need a xe264hr"..no matter what the combo is..seems comp likes to play it conservative with their smallest,least aggressive cam they offer in that lineup..

Well saving up about $500ish for a good dyno tune AND getting a $300ish custom grind would tack on quite a bit more than I was planning. It is possible but it won't happen with these mowers. I'd have to wait until next income taxes to do that. But I've already been considering waiting til next income taxes so I can get the best combo...

I could also go with the X-cam. Even the name of it sounds cool. "Yeah, it's an X-cam. The X stands for Xtreme!!!".

Yeah, I like to think I'm pretty knowledgable with engines and the components and how they all work. And I know how a cam works and what it does, but when it comes to understanding all the measurements and all that, it gets a little confusing to me.

Lift and duration are of course easy to understand, but when it comes to LSA and such it gets a little confusing to me.

x cam is just a b cam with more lift...

and 300ish for a custom grind is only $50 more than the OTS comp cam you linked to

but seriously,whatever cam you get,"computer friendly" or not,that combo would definitely benefit from a tune

even with my mild combo,lousy p heads and a b cam,my car was running super rich,driveability sucked,idle sucked,etc..until i got a tune..now A/F is perfect right across the boards,and it drives around town like it was still stock,until i lay into the gas
