1995 Cobra Mustang With Salvage

Hey guys. I've been looking at a 1995 Cobra (legit, confirmed with Autocheck) recently. It has a salvage title due to theft eleven years ago (VinCheck through the NCIB). It also had another accident five years ago that resulting in no major frame damage.
From what the guy told me, the front bumper, hood and radiator support were replaced (not unlike my '01 V6). That was not the cause of the salvage title.

It has 70k miles (confirmed with Autocheck), BBK CAI, BBK shorties, BBK midpipe and unknown exhaust. The hood is an aftermarket "Mach 2" hood. The front bumper is a stock GT bumper. Those were probably replaced at the time of the accident.
He is asking $3,700 for it. Should I go look at it and inspect it myself? Or should I avoid it overall because of the salvage title. Theft really doesn't bother me all that much. It is just a fact of living in this state... The mileage is really holding my interest. That is less than 5k a year.

Thanks guys!

Here is a pic I snagged off of the ad:

Talking Buy it

Sounds as if it is well worth the money, Just bought a 94. 5.0 with 123000 had to put the exshaust back in order and still looking for smog stuff. But it is a blast to drive.....if your looking to drive it yes.....if showing it and resale value....think about it more.

I plan on driving it. I'm not a show car guy nor do I want to have an investment. I buy my cars to drive the balls off them. Why else would you get a Mustang?

$3700 seems low for that low of miles and a CObra. However the body lines look good go check it out. Make sure hes not the one who stole it!

I did. :p

NCIB says it is "clean" salvage title.

Going to look at it tomorrow hopefully.

If you do buy it there are ways to 'clean up' the title. One of the easiest is to register it in Oklahoma first, and then transfer title to CA. Of course you'll need to pay all fees twice and find an OK address you can use.

That sounds like the first step in committing fraud to me. I wouldn't encourage anyone to commit fraud. Just sayin'...

and it collects dust admirably while parked for repairs in the garage...

Agreed...

I should be looking at it later today. I'll report back after that.

We can debate the ethical implications of it, but as long as your OK address is legit it is 100% legal.

You may find it very hard or impossible to find insurance on it with a salvaged title.

I'm not so sure that I'd agree that it's legal as the VIN will pop up later again as being a salvage title.

You may be able to get a "clean" title in your hands when it comes time to complete the sale but that VIN will forever be linked to salvage.

I don't know the vagaries of the law but on it's face it appears to be fraud. If it's a well known loop-hole I'm surprised its not been closed or if there's a trap door law on the books that puts conditions on when/how the salvage status is removed.

Regardless, hope the car is worth the trip. When I was searching my area for a foxbody it didn't take long to realize people can convieniently leave details out of their decriptions and the pictures almost always look better than in person

I just got back from looking at it. Not going to work.
It has BBK longtubes and O/R H-pipe. Not to mention a cam of some kind.
It will not be able to pass inspection, and I could not get it transfer into my name.

Does anyone know any CARB approved shorties for 94-95?
Or how much a stock midpipe is?
