Bolt-ons for HP

I just got my 1994 Mustang GT 5.0 back on the road thanks to this site. The only upgrades I know that have been done to the car is that an H-pipe has been installed. I would like to start tinkering to get more HP. I have heard that you can get a decent amount of extra HP from bolt ons. I can not afford to do everything at once. So I would like some suggestions on the direction I should take. I want to do this in increments. I do not want to put something on that I should have done something else first. As I have mentioned before, I have very little mechanical knowledge but am very mechanically inclined. Anyone have any ideas on a starting point?:?:

I appreciate that, but my knowledge on the subject is very low, to be simple about it, I do not understand the terminology, I guess I need a tutor!

Start with intake and tune, then move on to getting full exhaust. After that, look into cam and heads.

Ah, don't know much about the older cars. Thanks for correcting me.

Ok,there is no sense in new cam without head work being done...correct, so what if I start with intake and fuel system...can you install turbo kits on stock 5.0 or should you do other things first.

Purpose of the car?

Budget?

Time frame?

Sometimes it is just better to save up a little bank roll before you set off on such endeavors.

^^yup, what he said!

If your goal is just to make it quicker and more fun without braking the bank, I'd say 3.73 gear (if it's a 5-speed), UPR Products control arms, and wide tires. It'll be a lot quicker off the line which will give you the ability to hang with cars that are much more powerful, and later on you can look at more expensive mods like H/C/I to gain some hp.

This is how i would go about it.
1. Get some 3.73 gears (will make it much quicker prob satisfy your tastes for a while)
2. I would do some suspension work before moving on, you would be surprised at how much a good suspension can add to how fast your car is. Subframe connectors are fantastic and make the entire ride feel better.
and control arms are great for your launches as well.
3. Do your exhaust. (you will look at thousands of you tube videos when you do this) Get a cat-Back exhaust and if possible on off Road H pipe. And top it off with CERAMIC coated shorty headers.

After all that is done you Will be ready to go almost any direction on H/C/I which = Heads /Cam/Intake. That is the biggest change and requires the most support modification. FYI: MAF, throttle body, larger fuel injectors, and a good tune up as well to tie it all in.

I have a 94 GT Convertible that is semi-stock. Here is a few bolt on's that I put on my car that won't hurt your pocket bad.
1. BBK H-PIPE $200.00
2. BBK 70 MM THROTTLE BODY $230.00
3. 373 GEAR $140.00
4. 40 series Flow Masters $160.00
5. BBK Cold Air intake $220.00
6. HR Lowering Racing Springs $240.00
All of this doesn't have t be done in a day. Each month purchase one. With everything I added, you can really feel the difference. My next purchase is going to be a Chip. Note: You will only about 65 more horsepower. Good luck don't get discouraged.
