I live in Rocklin, CA and i was wondering if any of you guys live up here by Sacramento and get together? I was hoping that maybe you meet every once in a while and go cruizin or whatever. I am interested in finding a local group that i can hang out with if possible.
Hey dude....I'm in the Bay Area, Benicia, about an hour away. There should be some clubs in Sacto area. There is a mustang shop in Sacto. Ask them.
There is a Bay Area Cobra Club (its the northern CA cobra club chapter...) and they have a really fun open track event in August or Sept each year. I posted it on the calendar. Its free and lots of fun Fords. GT40's, old cobras, kit cobras, lots of shelbys and 87-93's. I went last you and you should check it out. Its big enough to be good, but small enough so only ford fans go and the traffic isn't a headache getting in and out of there.

Hey Dan, do you know if we have them listed in our West Coast Mustang Clubs section? I think there are also a few other clubs listed from northern California.

The Cobra event is at Sears point....midpoint between Sonoma and Napa Valleys....heart of the wine country. You don't need an invite to attend. You should contact them though if you want to participate. To run the road course you either need to take a class or have a racing license, and have your car pass an inspection--they aren't gonna have you run any old $50k shelbys or $500k authentic cobras off the course .
Its fun though....you can walk around in the pits and check out all the cars. I think they had guys running on the drag strip too. I think there is some "ride-along" time too, where at certain times you can ride with another driver on the road track.
The road track is a hilly, whinedy course....not a flat whinedy course....big difference. The track is very nice....they just had a big national stock car event there. Several of the stock car drivers really struggled with the course because they have become so accustomed to the larger ovalular shaped tracks that they noramlly run.
Last year at the cobra club event, there were a some 65-68 Mustangs and a couple of 87/88 LX's that were very hot and had to stay off the gas to get through some of the turns.
Take some binoculars, beers and go on a day where they are road racing and running on the strip and you'll have a great day!

Yep, its the Nor Cal SAAC (Northern California Shelby Auto Association Club) out of Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale is heart of Silicone Valley and there are some yuppy guys there with some very valuable Shelby's, Pantera's, GT40's and Cobra's.
The older mustangs 65-68 and the 87-93 were the most aggressive on the track though. The expensive ones were not pushing as hard.

I looked at the AFM calendar now and its been removed. Oh well.

Dan, at this point I have no idea how the event was removed from our events calendar. I will look into this to find out why and what happened.
Appreciate you taking the time to submit events into the calendar and apologize for it "disappearing". I will reenter the event into our calendar within the next few days.
Thank you for pointing it out!

Can you get the racing class there or do you have to go to a special racing school? I know were Sears Point is and i have beeen there many times. It is an awsome track. What exactly do you have to have to pass the insection and what would they be looking for?
Go to their website. They have a comprehensive list of what you need to have to race. I peeked at it last night. If you have a Shelby, you are in. If you don't, then there is a lottery. Click on the link Scott gave you above, then select the No. Cal SAAC club and you will be at their website. Don't miss this event. Its pretty much an all ford event with about half exotic fords and the other half are pumped up mustangs.
You will see some very hot fords there. There was a gutted old station wagon and a gutted Maverick....I don't know what they had in them, but they were smoking 90's Cobras....funny as ****. There were a couple of Ferrari's, some Panteras. You can walk around in the pits. These guys love to talk about and show off their cars.

Click on the dark blue word "West Coast Links" in Scott's post up above....that will take you to the clubs section. You will see a Sacramento post in that section too. For the event though, click on the Nor Cal SAAC listing and that should take you to their website. Once there click on their calendar, then go to August 30th. There are complete details for the whole event for the whole weekend.
