Default Well, having Tranny Problems, what to do...

I am starting to fell my tranny leting go, it has not started missing shifts but it is just a matter of time. now my problem is, i do not know what to do. i talk to my Tranny guy and he said it would cost about 600 dollars to fix it. *****!!! So instead, i was thinking, if i spend this much, why not spend more to buy a better, new one? so i think this is what i am going to do. BUT, the problem is i have two i want to get. one is REALLY nice, and is 850 dollars with free shiping but it could take a while to get it. i am talking a month at the least. you see they get a core once you order it, then they build it up for you. some others who baught from them say they are worth it, but it takes time to build and get it out. it does have a lot, also has a shifter kit put into it. then there is another, it is a rebuilt AOD, looks very clean, and also has a shifter kit in it. this one is going to be about 1050 dollars with shiping inculded, but it is all ready to be sent out. so my dilema is WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!?!?!?!? i really want the better one, but do not really like the idea of waiting possibly more then a month for it. who knows what could happen from now until then. That is my problem, what do you all think i should do????

Thanks.

ok if lentech is not an option for you and you really like the more expensive of the two that you picked out, then get it. its better to wait a little more time and get what you really want. no sense in settling just to possibly regret it later. if your worried about your current one taking a dump on ya just dont drive it, and if you have to drive it then take it easy on it. i know waiting sux when you really want something, but its the better thing to do.

tomcat, just a quick note you may or may not know. Do not ever do 1-D-1 shuffle with an AOD tranny. Yes it is very effective at holding the shortshifting 2nd gear, but it will surely lead to the demise of your tranny. When the 1-D-1 shifting is done it engages the 3rd gear band and the reverse gear band at the same time and is not good at all. Lentech is the way to go for a reliable AOD.

This is the first time I've heard this...doesn't seem possible.

Anyone else know about this?

i have found the one i am going to get, it is going to have a beffed up Clutch setup, and the overhaul kit, then it has a stronger driveshaft thing, then it has a Transgo Shifter kit, and last it comes with a 2500 stall converter. i think i am going to fell a BIG differance.

Just to let you know, i really never go into the 1 postision on my shifter, not even to race because my tach is sort of broken, and it is hard to tell when to shift.
