Question How quick realistically in the quarter on a stock unmodified engine

Well I been thinking about this for quite some time. I havent spent any real money on my car in a number of years due to various reasons ...I have now drag raced it myself twice ...made about 10 runs so far. The best I have done is 14.53 on BFG drag radials with a 2.18 60' time..in watching repeat videos I still see the drivers side tire spinning .... I have limited drag racing experience plus the fact that I only can do it once a year. I of course still need more practice on launch techniques and think that my burnouts are not as they should be since only one wheel seems to spin...traction lok doesn't seem to engage. But the time is a good starting point or baseline.
My personal goal with this car is to get it to go as fast as I can get it to go in the quarter without removing a valve cover. I have the mods listed in my sig rest of car is 100% stock . The old archaic Lakewood traction bars (not lift bars) one of the first aftemarket parts made accessible for a 5.0 Fox these are like late 80's vintage pieces...they do a great job of keeping the car straight ..and no wheel hop so that's not an issue. However in the same breath I'd like to possibly update car with more current traction devices. I'd like to get the 60 foots down ...I just can't seem to get the car to hook with drag radials in its current form.
I'm thinking of going to slicks and 3.73's maybe 4.10's . This will probably cure the traction problem and get it to go down the track a wee be faster. I'm thinking low 14's realistically with this..I would like to get the car to hook, have nice front end lift and a better weight transfer(since from the factory a much heavier car in the nose) to wring out the best e.t. I can on a consistent basis. So I was thinking adj drag struts and shocks , relocated battery , lighter k member, stock fibreglass hood( I cant seem to find one any where) rear seat delete , front sway bar removed , line loc ( for an easier and proper burnout) The car is basically a "stiripper" no factory a/c no power windows / locks / no cruise/ bargain basement LX.
I'd like to keep the car as stock looking as possible. ie. sleeper look . No welds no bogarts , no scoops no stripes . etc. Its only a summer driven car.... with so far only a once a year drag race event. I'm not too concerned about mileage thats why i'm thinking 4.10's with right size tire.
I dont want to cut up the factory exhaust at this point either. Any suggestions other ideas would help.

I had 4.10's in my 93 Cobra, I wouldn't recommend them in a manual transmission, go with 3.73's. Mileage wasn't an issue it was just way to much gear for the car.

Thumbs up

Hey thanks for the replies.....I used to have a ton of articles but some how over the years I lost them or threw them out. But that is what I was looking for and the same body style too.. thats great. Yes I thought the 4.10 's would be too steep and with the 3.35 box I have it would be a pain to be always shifting from 1-2 so quickly. It gives me good points to think about. Realistically the car has decent power. Its getting it to the pavement thats the key. I see that owner has done very little and with impressive results in my opinion. I should look at stronger axles and beef up the rear end. Making the car lighter can come later .. I'm pretty convinced that 3.73 's and slicks are my next investment . I wish I could practice more though.

to get more traction you should rebuild the tracloc and add 1 fiber dick to each side and reshim it and get mega bit lower control arms those 2 things did unreal things to my 94!!!

With perfect traction, fox body 5.0 coupes have run 14 flat. There are some that have gotten a high 13.
