Default Paint Job

Anyone know what I can expect to pay for a "good deal" paint job? I don't want something that is considered showroom finish, but I also don't want the paint to chip in a year. Someone quoted me at $2300 but that sounds just a bit high. I was thinking more along the lines of $1500. Am I thinking too low? Anyhow, let me know!

I once read an article in a magazine about the cost of paint jobs. In all honesty, you shouldn't expect to pay anything too much under $2k... for a good job. If its done right, they have to literally take your car apart before and after the spray. You certainly don't want any joe schmoe doing that.

I say, pay the extra money to go to a reputable place with some sort of guarantee. That way, your paint won't look like crap in a year or 2 plus you know its a good job done by guys who know what they're doing.

Remember, you get what you pay for...

the statement you get what you pay for is true....

the proper way to paint a car is to remove all mouldings bumpers glass... otherwise tape lines could be seen or paint build up in cracks... truthfully if you just want to make the car look better all around and don't feel like paying for that then g for it... its very hard to tell when its done that way my car was painted with all trim and bumpers on car and turned out perfect looking... i paid $800 and i even had all my dents and dings taken out...

id like to suggest going to macco and having them paint it... severall of my friend went there and they look great and are warrantied for up to 3-5 years... if anything goes wrong with it... they dont remove trim or bumpers but the paint jobs still turn out great!! ($500-1000)

It all depends on what condition your paint is in now and if the body has any dings etc. Like the others have said the "best result" will be to remove all trim/lights /emblems etc. However a good taper/masker can cover these up well. It costs labour though to mask a car which brings up the cost to paint. As the others have mentioned what kinda of paint job are you looking for? If your paint is weathered or cracked then it must be stripped to get the best and longest finish. If its a quick sand over then paint over paint that was in poor condition then yes a few years is all you will get before you notice it starting to fade .

First determine your own needs and then ask ask ask for what your getting or not getting for the money.
The price you mentioned does not seem that unreasonable. Make sure you know what your getting though
