Its been awhile since I've done any chips, but I believe the calibration for a 4.6 and a 5.0 PCM are very different. Kinda like speaking German to a car that is fluent in English. They just can't communicate. As for finding what tune is on the chip. Back then you would ship your PCM to the shop and they would do the tuneing there and mail it back to you. Don't take all this as from the Bible, there are smarter people than me on this subject. Good luck!

Well if I had to think about it. 96 and up have two camshafts in the motor, so one would think the computer is also working two cams. As the (push rod 5.0) only need one

Forget any mechanical differences, 94-95 V8 cars use the previous generation computer (EEC-IV) and 96-04 uses an EEC-V computer. Completely different animal. If you can get a different tune burned to it it will still plug into the computer. Both EEC-IV and EEV-V computers have the same J3 port.
