Hey guys, name is Dave and new to the forum, im more of an import guy with lots of jap projects, but I just came across a deal last night that I absolutely could not pass up.
its a 1990 mustang 5.0 Supercharged w/ 90k original miles
I've got a couple of questions actually as I absolutely nothing about these cars lol..
#1 how much power does a vortech sc usually make on a bone stock 5.0?
#2 the kid got the car from a trade therefore didnt know anything about the car, do the vortech kits come with a fuel system to support the extra power (fuel pump, injectors)
From looking at the car I see it has a bbk ssi intake, headers, exhaust and obviously the supercharger which leads me to belive it has more done to it.
i'm pretty sure if he got it as a kit, it came with a 255lph in tank fuel pump and an FMU to work with factory 19# injectors. what color are your injectors? easiest way to tell.
on a bone stock car, depending on how much boost you're running, you're probably somewhere in the 350-375rwhp range, maybe a little more.

The computer is behind the kick panel on the passenger side. Take the panel off and look to see if there is a chip stuck in the side of the computer.
Or, look at the tops of the injectors like said above - 19# injectors are orangish, 24# injectors are blue, etc.
The amount of power the sc makes depends on the amount of boost. A V3 Kit is set up to make 5-6 pounds of boost and will put a stock 5.0 around 275 horsepower. A V2 kit is set up to make around 8-10 pounds of boost and will get the car in the 330 horsepower range.
The V3 is self-lubricating, while the V2 will have an oil supply line running to it.
The V3 is typically marketed as a "bolt on" application designed to work with an otherwise stock car. Because your car has other mods, I would hope that this is a V2 - if not, I would hope that it has a chip.
Let us know what you find when you start poking around...

didnt get a chance to check for a chip in the side of the computer as i didnt see this until now, but i was looking at the injectors and theres actually 2 diff kinds of injectors in it! lol, was like wtf... on each side there all grey exept for the last one on each side which are yellow lol..
im pretty sure i have a v3 then bc i did not see an oil supply line connected to it... on my very first post there is a tinypic link, there is a pic of the motor if you would like to verify this for me? Hell, you might even be able to see other mods that I have no clue on lol.
These cars kinda suck to tune unless you have a programmable computer, i doubt it has a chip, since it has the fmu on it.
Only thing is that the FMU is normally designed for an entirely stock set up including the stock injectors, intake, etc. - which he doesn't have - and I didn't actually see where he indicated that he had an FMU...
cenok said that the smaller kits come with an FMU, but you can run the V3 without the FMU and go with a chip instead.
Given the other mods to the car, I would hope that it is not running off of an FMU...

You have to get the numbers off of the injector to know for sure their flow rate. Some grey ones are 14lb some are 50, ive seen greys that are 23.6 and so on. I doubt they are 14 on a setup like that, but you gotta verify. Check you maf sensor and see if theres calibration specs, my pro m says 30's right on it..at least start there. Also look to see if you have aluminum heads as that's a big 👍 too.

I see a fmu in the pic on the very left.
