Default street stealth

OK, heres a good question.
Whats the fastest car you've seen that can pass for stealthy on the street? Whats the fastest Mustang, and how'd they do it?
I've always been a fan of the "low-profile" approach, and was wondering how fast you can go *sorta* quietly, LOL. I've seen some pretty scary sleepers, but they were big money. Anybody have any tips on going stealthy on a budget?
(this is all long term planning, but its ideas all the same. I like the tricked out cars, but I'd rather have a stock looker that was just scary when it came to it )

J
(And, yes, I'm rather keen on the turbo idea, but its still a while off, I'm just looking for opinions and ideas )

Alot of people will make you pop the hood before they'll race you and a big turbo doesn't exactly look stock.

I have found that a cowl hood is a dead give away, not to mention a monster tach on the dash.... I run a stock hood and i don't purge my nitrous at the track.I also just run the stock tach with an msd shift light by itself that is mounted on the steering column. Also painted my subframe connectors and lower control arms black to attract less attention than with that zinc look....the nitto drag radials are the only thing that give me away..

Yeah, I like the cowl and aftermarket front ends, but I dont think I'd run one if I had the car built (one day, lol).
I've never been in the "semi-pro-illegal" racing scene, so I'm not worried about having to pop the hood, or any of that crap, I just like the idea for those random stoplight type encounters, LOl. Besides, except for the rear clip, I like the cars "stock" lines.
2 best sleepers/stealth cars I've ever seen were in the car mags.
One was a 69 (IIRC) Nova, 4 door, dog dish 'caps, bench seat, tissues on the dash, painted tan. IIRC, it had a built 350 with a (new at the time) super quiet blower and fake single tip.
The other was a Caddy Sedan DeVille, twin turbo 500+ci engine, something like 1100 HP, aluminum interior w/a 6 speed. From the outside, it looked like a caddy w/big wheels and hood pins...Kick ass, LOL

My dad's '94 is pretty sleepy. Especially now that he took his spoiler off. At the track he runs slicks and skinnies with Draglites, but besides that, its all stock. He runs 12.85-12.95's on stock ported heads, ported explorer mani, ported stock TB, stock cam and injectors. People always come up to him asking where he's hiding NOS or if he's supercharged. Its great. I'm modeling my combo after him. Now if I could just drive half as good as he can! Check him out: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/845572 With stock rims, very sleepy on the street. He has run with a slightly modded Buick GN and a supercharged GT. Now, they ran from rolls and only ran up to about 70mph, and with short spirts like that, his power is instant. If he ran it over about 90, the GN would be blowing by him and same with the SC'd GT. It surprises a lot of people. 2 cents

Chris

Cool, I like it. But I have to say, I'd be kinda leery about racing a car that had even the stock spoiler removed, i.e "Theyre hiding something", LOL
If I won the lotto tommorow, the only thing I'd change in apperance on the 93 would be a nice paint job, in the factory colors, and maybe a cobra rear valence. Oh yeah, and the 17 inch "pony" wheels theyre selling. I'd consider lowering and the bigger rims warning enough to the initiated, and the gomers would never notice it, LOL
