Well . . . the new 331 is in and tuned . . almost. We are having fuel supply issues (I need some 60 lb. injectors and a Boost-A-Pump) so my rev limiter is set at 5900. And, we had to go to a bigger meter.
So, even though it's not quite "done," it still threw down 450rwhp and 420rwtq on a very conservative Mustang dyno. (My car made 365rwhp on the same dyno and ran 11s at 117mph). The car is . . simply put . . . terrifying to drive on the street.
Because I'm limited to 5900rpm, I'll be stuck with 122mph if I stay in 4th (5900, 3.73s, 26 inch tire=122mph). Looks like I will either be coasting through the traps at 122, or shifting into 5th to try and get it higher. I expect I'll hit 122 at about the 1,000 foot mark.
In any event, I expect a 10 second pass on my first qualifying run. I'll let y'all know how it turns out!
lol . . . I hear that! I always have two goals when I race. Keep it out of the wall, and don't break it. I have been successful at meeting the first goal.
aaaahhhhhh.... well better luck next time. i know you can get it after everything is tuned up right... so how does the new 331 feel compared to the 306?
nice vid, i can't believe that there were hardly any people in the stands!! everytime there is a race down here in socal its freakin packed!!! but then again we only have the street legal races maybe once a month at the most... haven't had one since febuary at california speedway due to construction, and thats the only 1/4 mile track near me... theres irwindale, but thats only 1/8th mile... i wanna live in arizona now. lol.
The 331 is a lot stronger than the 306 was . . . it's a little scary on the street . . lol.
The reasons there aren't that many people in the stands are 1.) it was almost 100 degrees and 2.) it was a team event . . . so unless you are part of Team Firebird, you can't run.
On "open track" nights . . . its so packed that I don't even like to go.
