Fellows, I was recently in jacksonville florida at a local hangout, and ofcourse guys were showing off their rides when low and behold i saw numerous guys with the SN95 stangs with dam Z28 engines! Why, why, why? Is this a new fad or has this been going on right beneath our very eyes all along? I've heard the urban legends before but dam i've finally seen it with my own two peepers.....damn i need a drink. Tell me it ain't so fellas. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...cons/icon8.gifhttp://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ons/icon13.gif
that is just sack religious to even think of a thing like that...putting in a chevy motor to a ford body...sounds like the old hot rod days with a 350 chevy in a 32 ford body
Sadly,,,even in a small place like PEI you see these hackers chopping up a Stang, to try to make a chevy engine go faster. I was at the track and there was an '88 fox body with a 350 Chev. engine. Don't worry guys,,I took it upon myself to make an example of him for all the Ford owners of the world. Sad part is that I did it on my way home from the track, and got a ticket for it.. The guy had balls too, we both got pulled over and I was doing 135 mph in a 55 mph zone. The only thing that makes it worth it is the fact that I was about 6 lenghts ahead of him and losing him fast,,,until I topped that damn hill and saw the cherrys flashing. oh well,,not the first time and won't be the last
the reason guys do it is because the best hooking car to build for the street is a mustang. it dont cost as much to set up the suspension on a mustang as much as other types of v8 cars. also it is easier and cheaper to build a chevy motor then to build a ford motor. you can get chevy motor parts easier then ford stuff. i dont really like when guys do it but you know what. the chevy powered stangs are starting to become more popular due to price to build a motor. for what it is costing me to build a new ford motor for my car i could have taken the money and put 2 chevy small blocks togeather.
The other reason is that a Chevy motor with a 4 bolt main will hold a lot more power than a stock 302 based block. If you want to build a high horsepower Ford motor, you are usually looking at a Dart, R302, or World block . . . which will cost you mucho dinero.
As far as dollars per horespower go (without splitting the block), Chevy motors have us beat.
Just goes to show, it's hard to keep a shibby running without resorting to Ford parts - in this case, lots of Ford parts.
