Default Head and Intake manifold question

Im looking for heads and an intake manifold to put on my mustang. I plan on buying em new. What is a good combo to put together to produce the most horsepower? A friend of mine keeps on telling me that if i replace my heads and intake i am soon going to have to change my transmission and drivetrain because of the added power and higer risk of things to go wrong. Please tell me this is a huge exaggeration. My engine is stock. 82k

Hey as far as good heads you cant go wrong with AFR. And the intake is kinda every ones own opinion. Me I have the AFR 185 heads and the Trick Flow Track heat upper and lower. But Trick Flow sells a set up where you get the heads intake and cam for a pretty resonable price. But as far as you trans goes I dont see you having to up grade that but never mind I looked up and seen you have aluminum drive shaft. There will be some other things you will want to up graded if you havent thought about them like throttle body, mass air sensor, and your ingintion and injectors.

For most horsepower, you would probably want heads that contain 2.02 intakes and 1.60 exhaust . You may actaully have a better street car though if you stick with smaller valves and a reasonable cam set up.

I'm in the same boat as you, and right now i've decided on the AFR 185s. I got everything else out of the way so i could get the most out of heads. I also am planning on upgrading my cam once again *sigh* lol....
