Default Has anyone ever tryed this before???

I have magnaflow mufflers. They sound good, but just not loud enough. So what I want to do is cut out one side of the muffler. Gut out all of the muffling material, then weld the side back on. Giving me an empty muffler. Will this sound better? I hope for a "mean sounding" deeper tone. I know it will be louder, but I dont want it to be TOO!!! loud. Any input will be apprieciated. Thanks in advance

Why not just get some pro dumps and not put tail pipes out past the under side of the driver's seat. That should be loud enough for you.

Dumping that exhaust into a pair of big empty echo chambers isn't likely to sound good

Yeah I guess it would echo alot sounding like crap. Although I am still curious.... What kind of muffler sounds really deep and more on the loud side in comparision with magnaflow? Loudmouth? Bassani?.....???

get a Bassani x pipe with no cats . . . save your original pipe with the cats for going through smog. That's what I did.

It'll be loud as hell and sound great . . . believe me.

He is dead on. An uncatted x is loud as hell. I have an uncatted x going into MAC flowpaths. Sounds like a NASCAR if it weren't for the blower singing like a Valkyrie.

yup, i have an offroad xpipe with no cats pushing through a pair of flowmaster 40 series mufflers. car sounds fantastic. its a little raspier than say a modular motor, but youll never get a pushrod motor to sound like that.

i love the way my car sounds, its pretty quiet unless i drop the hammer. does have a loose tailpipe tho... annoying.

i understand that longtube headers really change the sound as well.

dont pull stuff out of your mufflers, itll sound like a redneck mobile.

I already have catless h-pipe I think it sounds deeper and louder than the x. I love the set up I have when I stomp on it. But it's a little mild at idle and cruise. Just want that muscle car rumble at idle and cruise as well. I think I have the disease.........Its never loud enough!

yuo might want to call flowmaster or some other exhaust professionals and talk to them. tell them waht your looking for, and see what they can recommend.

Cut the mufflers up ?? No way,,, That would sound the same as straight pipes with no mufflers,,,like an old FarmAll tractor,,,trust me,,,I did it to a '78 LeMans. (I come from a small town ok... I've got Magnaflow mufflers on 27/8" pipe with 3" stainless steel tail pipes hooked to shorty Hooker Headers,,,and it sounds awesome. Makes everybody's car alarms go off at 2500 rpm.I don't need to pass emissions where I live, so all that pollution crap is in the metal pile out back
Having around 360 hp helps too I guess...Peace !!!
