Was it a 4 cyl?

Guys,

First let me say thanks. I looked in the search function and that didn't help too much.

I am looking at a 89 coupe that is a 5.0l. This car has everything on it including the intake silencer for the airbox, (that was the first thing I took off on my car as a kid!). But it is listed on carfax as a 4 cyl and; with further research, "A" in the 8th digit on the vin indicates a four cylinder.

The guy who is selling it, is as dumbfounded as I am as I have seen alot of pictures. He has owned multiple 5.0's and he can't believe that it is a 4cyl.

So, is this a case of wishful thinking on my part? I had a car once that the vin was wrong or mis-labeled. Anybody with some insight, let me know.

I would say it was converted, I highly doubt the VIN would be wrong as it would have been hard to sell from the Dealership and then there would have been issues with the Insurance Companies.
